Power Block
I just wanted to get other peoples opinion on power block. I really like the skill as it lets you shut someone down and not have to worry about watching them for a while. The recharge is sorta long, but its not too bad. Discuss.

I use it sometimes. PowerBlock and Power Drain. Once I get low on E I just look for a caster starting a chain, e-drain, then shut him up so I can go back to work.

I use it mostly on foes that can cast some powerful spells of the same attribute. For example those Hydra in Fire Island chain who cast Meteor Shower, Pheonix and some other flame skills. You interuptt say Meteor shower and then the hydra can't cast Pheonix either. This give you time to kill it without dodging stones. Also Ether Seals... Interupt Thunderclap and its powerless to attack with anything for a while.
Its a good interupt skill.

Given the long recharge time, it's sometimes worthwhile to use arcane echo first so you can shut down two casters.
Follow with healthy doses of Wastrel's Worry.
You can sometimes end up wasting this spell if you interrupt a spell with no attribute, such as Echo, Remove Hex, Elemental Attunement, etc. or if you interrupt a spell which is not from the primary attribute of the caster, such as Watchful Spirit on a healing monk.

Use Arcane Conundrum instead of Migraine on a Basic Migraine Build
then use Power Block, basically you can shut a monk down for around 13seconds. This can be critical in High lvl PvP

Yes, I am.
Since it recharges all the attribute line, the spell will be interrupted even if enemy is running Mantra of Resolve/Concentration.

This skill has great potential. I find myself using Leech sig. more, though, as it interrupts all skills, not just spells. Since it's a sig., the energy cost is right, and you get energy for pulling it off. Also, it can be used to interrupt troll ungent, heal sig, worm seige, and many more that power block can't. Don't get me wrong, against a monk or castor that only uses 1 or 2 attribute lines, power block can be great. I really like catching a someone with power block, and right when they think they're gonna get skill use back, hitting them with blackout. I smile when I think of what they must be yelling at the screen.

Yes i agree it does also. I find it quite fun to go to CA and use Power Block and then start spamming diversion on any caster.

I'm not sure how true this is now, but its worth thinking about since I don't think any skill updates have taken place recently. A few months ago I did a test, the results of which verified that even under mantra of resolve/concentration the effects of all mesmer interrupts take place, but the enemy does not get interrupted. Now in some cases that worked very well for me, with spells like aegis I was often able to put 2 interrupts in, simultaneously draining 20+ energy and blocking out prots.
Haven't tried it in a while...but I've not seen anything that'll suggest this is not the case now.

hmm. i'll have to test this. I'll just bring power spike into arenas and look for someone with mantra of resolve. It should damage them if what you say is true.

I, myself, have read this at the forums and lastly had it confirmed at iQ forums.
So, I'm not taking any credits for this, even though I know that this is right.
Nothing like new here too, I'm sure there must be a thread somewhere at GWGuru about this after all.

Power Block is a great skill, you can get alot of good shutdowns by using it and other skills(diversion, shame, guilt, blackout). It's on of my favourite mesmer elites, because unlike the others, it requires some skill to use; you need some reflexes. Coolest thing ive done with it is get reversal of fortune on a prot monk :P

power block + archane echo is just devastating. excellent. in pve u can disable both protection and healing prayers from a boss monk, or disable 2 elementalists attack.

It does not interupt through resolve, but you still have all your skills shutdown. I use resolve in tombs. When I get hit by cry of frustration, I still take damage, even though I do not get interupted. It won't interupt, but it will shutdown a caster through resolve/concentration.

And you know what happens if your skills start recharging while you cast?
That's right, you get interrupted.

I love Power Block. I almost never take Migraine, because I prefer Power Block, so I use Arcane Conundrum + Mantra of Persistence to lengthen the duration past the recharge time. Problem is, you need a cover hex.

I was under the impression that PB wasn't a hex, it was like blackout. Of course if you are talking about AC then yes I can see why you need a cover hex
PB is a skill of opportunity, much like a lot of the mesmer skills. If you use it just right it works fine. PB SoH and Blackout can potentially shut a monk down for good.
